Main take aways:
- “Taking charge of my learning is paying off”: after the last feedback where I was encouraged to really make my own path and follow my own curiosities – I tried my best to do so and was much more specific about my actions and this has really been great – I do think I still need to work on being more fluid in my experimentation but by leaning into the recommended books, other artists and thinking more about what I wanted to achieve with my work, this has really helped me learn. For part 3 I want to do more of my own research on other artists’ work to inspire my pieces as this was really helpful and I am aware I don’t always have the time for this
- Some advice to watch out for when analysing my work before finishing moving forwards:
- Ellipses being too pointed
- softer edges and less lines
- Use my sketchbook more to explore and experiment (I struggle with this and need to make more time for it but hoping part 3 will help as I’m excited and nervous to get into that and draw outside)
- Try out more collage as I keep mentioning!
- Watch out for accuracy on objects since I draw accurately
- Reflect more on take aways in the blog entries at the end
- Most positive aspects of improvement:
- Good analytical approach that is helping my learning
- Appreciating art in its socio political context through my research – this makes a lot of sense to me given that I work in the third sector and politics and civil participation is a key aspect of my work and it also helps me place and better understand works beyond my own personal taste and aesthetics
- good exploration of mixed media – which I actually do enjoy and I get more out of layering colours and media and thinking about this in more detail that I ever have
- Good prep drawings in sketchbooks – thinking about how I can do more analysis on photos of my work with digital tools
Looking forward to part 3 now!!!
