Exercise: Managing my time

I was asked to reflect on how I will plan my time for this course. I am going to aim to finish in a year as I have a full time job that is quite demanding so about 8 hours a week.

I have certainly learned from my previous course that working during the week after work is quite hard as I have less time and energy and I am also not a morning person so I really cant study in the morning before work. So I usually now use after work time to plan, read the reference books recommended, buy materials, brainstorm ideas on days and then use the weekend when I have more light, time and energy to do the drawing and painting.

What I really found hard in the previous course and that took a lot of time was learning how to use WordPress for this learning log and all the digital work I did using Photoshop and InDesign to produce final mock-ups but now that I have that more under my belt and assuming I may not have to do mock-ups in this course, I am hoping I spend more time drawing and be quicker. I have also learned to start the learning log during and as I do exercises, rather than at the end – which helps me capture better my thoughts and also streamlines the logging process.

All of that said, once I have done Part 1, I hope I will have a better sense of how I am going and then I can reassess how my time is going. I will try to aim for mid-August hand in for Part 1 though noting I will be on holiday for two weeks over July.
