Exercise: making a moodboard

Here I was asked to chose from a list of words and on a large sheet of paper and expanding on the themes an ideas that I had identified in the previous exercise. I had chosen and brainstormed on travel and although it was mid-COVID-19 lockdown, I was lucky enough to remember that I had a stash of travel magazines that was a great resource.

I also created a Pinterest board from internet searches too and printed a lot of those off.

I ended up organising my elements into categories: the logistics; food and drink, festivals/culture, people and languages, summer/beach holidays, city breaks, winter holidays, and adventure/animals.

I did add a few drawings to complement like a mountain or tree and some broken lines as if on a map and following the modes of transport to each ‘destination’ which I thought was fun.

I also added real spices and herbs and textured tissue papers, wooden Christmas decor, old boarding passes and my old passport cover. I also used my own photos of some of the places and cities and festivals I have enjoyed. I really enjoyed creating this as love to travel and do so a lot for my job and to visit family and friends. I am hoping I get to come back to get inspiration from this in another future exercise!
